MTD for income tax pilot extended

HMRC is extending the pilot for Making Tax Digital for Income Tax Self Assessment (MTD ITSA) to more self-employed workers and landlords. 


From July, those taking part will be able to test MTD ITSA before April 2024, including their own internal processes for managing MTD.

     

HMRC criticised over IR35 implementation

HMRC needs to demonstrate that off-payroll working rules, commonly known as IR35, can operate effectively and fairly in the real world, according to a report by the Public Accounts Committee (PAC). The tax authority should also investigate whether the costs and unintended consequences of IR35 are proportionate to the additional tax revenue that the reforms raise.

     

Latest guidance for employers

HMRC has published the latest issue of the Employer Bulletin. The June issue has information on various topics, including:

  • PAYE
  • Paying Class 1A National Insurance contributions due on 22 July 2022
  • Enterprisem Management Incentive: Covid-19 easement ending
